To avoid all these problems, scientists are creating algorithms that can withstand quantum attacks. In this, the role of quantum distribution is also very important, which provides extra security to the transfer of information, especially at a time when we have to protect our information for a long time.

Actually, both RSA and ECC are encryption methods that we use to secure our data. RSA is based on the multiplication of numbers, while ECC uses the mathematical structure of binary numbers and is generally considered more secure than RSA.

2. The Need of Quantum resistant algorithms

Scientists believe that when quantum computers are able to break any encryption, there should be algorithms that can compete with these computers. For this, scientists are already creating algorithms through which quantum computers can stop us.

Algorithms are actually complex mathematical problems such as lattices or codes that quantum computers cannot solve so easily. We should prepare for them now so that these threats can be easily dealt with in the future and we can protect our data from attacks by quantum computers.

3. The Role of Quantum Key Distribution

Quantum key distribution is actually a mechanism in which communication is done through cryptographic protocols. In this, encryption is carried out in the form of qubits or quantum bits sent through optical fibers. Quantum distribution is used by many of the world’s major military powers to share and receive their data with each other in a secret manner, and if someone tries to steal this data, it is immediately detected.

The biggest security mechanism in QKD is that when the sender sends its information to the receiver, if someone tries to steal this information along the way, those Q bits will automatically change, which will let the sender or receiver know that this information is being stolen. And when someone steals this information, those keys will automatically change. This is why quantum distribution is considered very safe.

4. The Protection of Long term Data

Preserving data for a long period of time is an important topic in today’s era, which is because the information we are storing today, for example, any government records or any country’s military records, may be vulnerable to quantum computers in the future.

Therefore, various institutions should take steps now to ensure that when quantum computers become common, how they will be able to protect their data. This includes a hybrid encryption model, which combines both traditional and post-quantum methods to ensure data security at all times.

Considering the threat of quantum computers, experts also talk about a threat called harvest and decryption, where data can be stolen by hackers so that this data can be opened using quantum computers in the near future.
